Text 1 Nov 40 notes Nothing lasts forever. Does Google know?

Despite last week has been full of things to do I took a little time to read this throught: http://siliconangle.com/furrier/2011/10/12/google-engineer-accidently-shares-his-internal-memo-about-google-platform

It is a long post on G+ from Google insider Steve Yegge that points out how even what seems to be one of the longer-lasting company in the world is nailing it’s own coffin and (even if it will be hard for BigG to eventually disappear) paving its road to the end.

Not only I totally agree with Steve on what he says about platforming the web, but I personally had to suppress a retch, some days later, discovering that my beloved GTranslate Firefox extension stopped working for a “Suspected ToS violation” (follow the link to learn more).

Not only Google isn’t that good leveraging its products to platform state, but it also withdraws what’s already working!
Last year I sent a formal request for on-site usage of Google Translate service by a Drupal module and got no response. OK, I’m a little, single jerk, so fuck me, but in the case of a widespread Firefox extension you could at least fake attention, or not?

Don’t be evil

You’re doing it wrong, Google!
Keep your walled garden, I will eventually choose another playground.
